Sebastian Szymanski (born January 24,  1975 in Ruda Śląska ) is a former German basketball player . The 1.86 meter tall player played in 46 Bundesliga basketball games for Lich and Gießen.

career

Born in Poland , Szymanski first played for CVJM Köln-Süd and Bayer 04 Leverkusen before moving to TV Lich in 1993 . With the Hessians in 1999 he made it up from the 2nd basketball league to the basketball league . During the 1999/2000 game year he was used in 21 games in the highest German league and scored an average of 6.5 points. However, he failed to stay in class with Lich, so that from 2000 he went back to the 2nd Bundesliga with the team.

In 2002 Szymanski moved from Lich to Bundesliga club MTV 1846 Gießen . By January 2004, the Gießen shirt had added 25 first division appearances, with an average playing time per match of less than ten minutes. In January 2004 he returned to Lich in the second division. Because of an Achilles tendon injury, he ended his playing career during the 2004/05 season.

In Lich, Szymanski was already active as a youth coach during his playing days, and later he also took over the supervision of the second Lich men's team and the U20 team at the basketball performance center in Central Hesse. From the beginning of 2007 he was assistant coach of the Lich second division team. In summer 2008 he took over the coaching position at the women's second division TSV Grünberg and stayed in office until 2010. In the 2014/15 season he looked after the Grünberger women again, but was  replaced by Aleksandra Kojic at the end of November 2014 .
