The First Division 1970/71 was the 32nd season of the top Cypriot division in men's football .

The twelve teams played against each other twice on a total of 22 match days, divided into a first and a second half. The master qualified for the European Cup of national champions and the cup winners for the European Cup of Cup winners . The runner-up qualified for the UEFA Cup . The bottom of the table was relegated. The point rule was changed again. From this season onwards there were two points for a win, one point for a draw and no point for a defeat.

From 1966/67 to 1972/73 the champions of Cyprus were automatically eligible for promotion to the first Greek league . It was the time when the Greek-Turkish conflict over the island was at its height and Greece's ties to the Mediterranean island were to be documented in this way.
