Athlitikós Sýllogos Digenis Akritas Morphou , ( Greek Αθλητικός Σύλλογος Διγενής Ακρίτας Μόρφου , German  Athletics Club Digenis Akritas Morphou ) is a Cypriot football club from Morphou . The club plays in the third division.

history

The association was founded in 1931. Its name comes from the medieval hero Digenis Akritas .

In 1970 the club was promoted to the first division and immediately made it to second place. This qualified for participation in the UEFA Cup , but where there was no chance against AC Milan in the first round .

Due to the Cyprus conflict , the club was pushed to the south of Cyprus. Limassol became the new home of the club. This upheaval meant that the club found itself in the low of the table in the following years. In 1979 he was relegated to the 2nd division.

Since 1999 the club has played its home games in the Makario Stadium in Nicosia . In the 2000/01 season the team was once again first class, but was immediately relegated. The club has been playing in the 3rd division since 2011.

The club also has a basketball division that became champions in 1967 and 1968.
