The Veikkausliiga 2016 was the 27th season of the top Finnish division in men's football under this name and the 86th season since its introduction in 1930. The season started on April 2 and ended on October 23, 2016. New in the Veikkausliiga PS Kemi Kings and PK-35 Vantaa have risen .

The championship secured itself for the first time in the club history IFK Mariehamn . Seinäjoen JK won the trophy. In addition to the champions and cup winners, HJK Helsinki and Vaasan PS qualified for the international competitions. PK-35 Vantaa went straight back to the second-class Ykkönen after only one season .
