Njazi Kuqi (born March 25, 1983 in Vučitrn , SFR Yugoslavia ) is an Albanian - Finnish football player . The striker was active for the Finnish national team .
family
Kuqi's older brother Shefki and his cousin Daut Kuqi are also professional football players and coaches .
Career
The son of Albanian immigrants, who has both Finnish and Albanian citizenship, began his career at various smaller Finnish clubs before joining FC Jokrut , the farm team of FC Jokerit in Helsinki .
The two-footed striker's first major club was FC Lahti . In 2004 he moved to Birmingham City for half a million euros . From there, until the end of the 2005/06 season, he was loaned twice to lower-class English clubs - to FC Blackpool and Peterborough United - and then moved to the Netherlands for FC Groningen . There, however , the Finnish international was dismissed after internal disputes in August 2006 and was hired at FC Carl Zeiss Jena during the 2006/07 winter break . From January 2008 to 2010 Kuqi was under contract with TuS Koblenz , after having participated in TuS training for a few weeks and recommended himself to coach Uwe Rapolder for further tasks. He received a contract in Koblenz until 2011, which however was dissolved by the relegation of TuS in the 2009/10 season.
Kuqi did not receive a new contract for the 3rd division in Koblenz , whereupon he moved to England to Stevenage FC and from there to Dundee FC in Scotland . In 2011 he returned to his homeland, where he signed with Turku PS . After half a year he moved to Greece, where he played 24 games for Panionios Athens in the 2011/2012 season . He scored ten goals in his 24 appearances for Athens and signed for local rivals Atromitos Athens in June 2012 .
For the second half of the 2014/15 season , Kuqi moved to SG Sonnenhof Großaspach in the 3rd division .
