Carlos Jurado

Carlos Jurado (born November 3, 1927 in Mexico City - † November 30, 2019 ) was a Mexican artist.

biography

He studied in Mexico City at the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado "La Esmeralda" with María Izquierdo . From 1955 to 1960 he was a member of the Taller de Grafica Popular (workshop of folk graphic artists, TGP). In 1957 a solo exhibition of his works took place in Chiapas for the first time . Jurado worked in Cuba during the Cuban Revolution . In Guatemala he was sentenced to death as a result of his revolutionary commitment, but pardoned at the request of his wife Chichai Jurado . At the University of Veracruz in Xalapa he became director of the art school. Here he founded the art magazine Zeta .
