The Mestaruussarja 1943/44 was the 14th season of the Finnish football championship since its introduction in 1930. It was played among eight teams from July 25, 1943 to June 20, 1944.

It was only played one first half of the season. After 7 match days, three clubs had nine points, so a playoff was played in which the two best-placed teams took part. Initially, two clubs from the workers' association TUL took part: MKV Turku and Tampereen Pallo-Veikot withdrew at the end of the season and the table was recalculated with the TUL clubs without the results of the other clubs.

The champions were Vaasa IFK , which clearly won the playoff against Turku PS 5-1.
