The Mestaruussarja 1962 was the 32nd season of the Finnish football championship since its introduction in 1930. It was played among twelve teams from April 29 to October 14. Haka Valkeakoski became the master . The previous year’s third player was the last Finnish football champion in 1960. Defending champion Helsingfors IFK only reached seventh place in the table.

In the final of the Finnish Football Cup , Helsingin Palloseura won 5-0 against Rovaniemi PS . The game was watched by around 5,000 spectators in the Helsinki Olympic Stadium on October 21, 1962.
