Valkeakoski [ ˈvɑlkɛakɔski ] is a city in Finland . It is located between Tampere and Hämeenlinna in the Pirkanmaa landscape . Helsinki is 145 kilometers away, Tampere 35 kilometers. The city is located on an isthmus: the Mallasvesi to the north and the Vanajavesi to the south . Valkeakoski is the ship landing stage of the Silberlinie .
history
The city emerged as a mill village at a water mill , where the farmers of the surrounding area had their grain ground. The adjacent lakes have been linked by a navigable canal since 1869 . The first cellulose and paper factory was built in 1871, followed by other industrial companies that allowed the city to grow.
