Parkano [ ˈpɑrkɑnɔ ] is a city in western Finland . It is located midway on the VR - railway from Tampere to Seinäjoki and has 6469 inhabitants (December 31, 2018). The local area is 909.76 km², 57.49 km² of which are water areas.
Parkano is the starting point for excursions to the Seitseminen National Park, just a few kilometers to the east .
Transport links
Parkano is on State Road 3 Helsinki - Vaasa and State Road 23 Pori - Joensuu . To the east of Parkano, the railway line runs from Helsinki to Oulu via Tampere and Seinäjoki, where Parkano station is also located. The bus station is located in the city center. From there there are daily buses to Helsinki, Tampere, Seinäjoki, Pori , Kihniö and Ikaalinen .
