Ylöjärvi [ ˈylœjærvi ] is a city in western Finland with 32,983 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018). It is located 14 km west of Tampere on the shore of Näsijärvi -Sees in the landscape Pirkanmaa . Ylöjärvi's neighboring cities and municipalities are Tampere in the east, Nokia in the southwest, Hämeenkyrö in the west, Ikaalinen in the northeast and Kuru in the northeast. The community is monolingual in Finnish .
Ylöjärvi Municipality has existed since 1869, and in 2004 it was promoted to town. In 2007, the neighboring community of Viljakkala was incorporated and in 2009 by Kuru . Although it officially has the status of a town, Ylöjärvi is rather rural and has no actual city center. The two largest settlements in the city are the parish village of Ylöjärvi and the village of Soppeenmäki, which are separated from each other by the railway from Tampere to Parkano . Other settlements in the urban area are Asuntila, Harhala, Hiiroinen, Ilmari, Inkula, Kaihari, Karhe, Keijärvi, Koivisto, Kuusisto, Kyöstilä, Lempiäniemi, Liimola, Metsäkylä, Mutala, Pengonpohja, Pinsiö, Pohjankylä, Särkivikala, Särkivik, , Viljakkala and Vuorentausta.
