Ari Vallin (born March 21, 1978 in Ylöjärvi ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player who was active in Europe for a variety of clubs. In his 20-year career, he won the Finnish and once the Swedish championship title six times .
Career
Ari Vallin began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of Tappara Tampere , for whose professional team he was active from 1996 to 1998 in the SM-liiga , the top Finnish league. During this period he played as a loan player for Koo-Vee and Hermes Kokkola in the second class I-divisioona . For the 1998/99 season , the defender moved to HPK Hämeenlinna before returning to his hometown club Tappara Tampere. In the 2000/01 season he played again for the HPK Hämeenlinna. For the 2001/02 season he was committed by Jokerit Helsinki , with whom he immediately became Finnish champion . In the following season he won the IIHF Continental Cup with Jokerit at European level .
From 2003 to 2006 Vallin played for Kärpät Oulu . With the team he also won the Finnish championship title in the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons. In the 2006/07 season he joined the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League before he held Players out on loan for Frölunda HC in the Swedish Elitserien and EHC Visp in the Swiss National League B aground. For the 2007/08 season he received a contract with Lokomotive Yaroslavl from the Russian Super League , with which he only failed in the playoff final at Salawat Julajew Ufa . From 2008 to 2010 he played again in the Swedish Elitserien, but this time for Färjestad BK , with which he won the Swedish championship in the 2008/09 season .
For the 2010/11 season Vallin returned to his Finnish homeland after four years abroad and joined HIFK Helsinki , with whom he also became a champion straight away. In preparation for the season he also competed in the European Trophy with the HIFK . In the further course of the season he also came to a use as a loan player for Kiekko-Vantaa in the Mestis . For the following season he was signed by Espoo Blues before moving to HC Sparta Prague in June 2012 . For Sparta he completed 31 missions in the Extraliga until January 2013 and was then transferred to Färjestad BK.
In April 2013 Vallin was signed again by Kärpät Oulu, with whom he won the Finnish championship in 2014 and 2015. His last position as a player was KooKoo in the 2015/16 season before retiring in October 2016.
International
For Finland , Vallin took part in the junior division at the U18 European Junior Championship in 1996 and the U20 World Junior Championship in 1998 . At the U18 European Championship in 1996 he won the silver medal with his team, and the gold medal at the U20 World Cup in 1998. In the senior sector he was in his country's squad for the Euro Hockey Tour in 2007 and 2009 .
