Career

Toni Rajala began his career as a hockey player in the youth field of Ilves Tampere , for whose professional team he made his debut in the SM-liiga in the 2008/09 season . The attacker scored two goals in 24 games and prepared three. He also played in four games for the Finnish U20 national team in the second-rate Mestis . He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2009 in the fourth round as a total of 101 players by the Edmonton Oilers . He then received a three-year NHL entry contract from the Oilers. First, however, the left shooter moved to the Brandon Wheat Kings in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League for the 2009/10 season . At the Memorial Cup 2010 the player was awarded the George Parsons Trophy as the fairest player of the tournament .

For the 2010/11 season Rajala returned on loan to Ilves Tampere in the SM-liiga. That loan was extended for another season a year later, before Rajala was sent to the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League in September 2013 . For the Barons, Rajala then scored 61 points in 63 AHL games. In August 2013, Rajala agreed to terminate his contract with the Oilers and was then without a club before he was signed by the HV71 .

In May 2014 Rajala moved to Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk in the Kontinental Hockey League , but returned to Sweden in November 2014 and hired at Färjestad BK , where he ended the 2014/15 season.
