Career
Jacob Josefson started his career at the age of five with Göta IK , where his older brothers also trained. At the age of ten he moved to Hammarby IF , but stayed there for only one year and joined Djurgårdens IF . There he went through the youth teams and from 2005 played for the U18 team of the club in the top U18 division.
In the 2007/08 season , on February 28, 2008, he made his debut in the Elitserien in the game against Timrå IK , but was otherwise used in the U20 team. At the end of the season he was used again in the U18 juniors, with whom he won the Swedish championship in his age group. From the 2008/09 season he was part of the club's elite series.
In the NHL Entry Draft 2009 he was selected in the first round in 20th position by the New Jersey Devils , who equipped him with a two-way contract for the 2010/11 season . Josefson made his debut on the farm team for the Albany Devils in the American Hockey League at the start of the season , before he was called up in the NHL roster of the New Jersey Devils and made his debut in the National Hockey League .
In the national team he made his debut at the 2015 World Cup , where the Swedish selection finished fifth.
After seven years in the organization of the Devils, the Swede received no further contract, so he joined the Buffalo Sabers as a free agent in July 2017 . As a result, Josefson returned to his Swedish homeland in April 2018 and signed a four-year contract with his training club Djurgårdens IF.
