career
Riat began his ice hockey career in the youth movement of the Genève-Servette HC . He also played football, but ultimately chose ice hockey. In April 2015, the return to his homeland became known when Genève-Servette announced his signing. In his first season in the National League A (NLA), Riat promptly became an integral part of the GSHC squad. In the 2016 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in 117th position by the Washington Capitals .
At the beginning of February 2018, EHC Biel announced Riat's commitment from the 2018/19 season. The negotiated contract contained an NHL release clause as of July 20. In March 2020, he signed an entry-level contract with Washington Capitals.
National team
In February 2017 he received his first squad for the senior national team, after having already gained international experience in the U18 and U20 in previous years.
