Beat Forster (born February 2, 1983 in Herisau ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who has been under contract with EHC Biel in the National League since the 2017/18 season . Forster plays in the position of defender.
Career
Forster began his career with the juniors of his home club SC Herisau . In the 2001 NHL Entry Draft , he was drafted in the third round in 78th place by the Phoenix Coyotes , but was never used in the NHL . Then he moved to HC Davos . He celebrated his greatest successes at the HCD when he became Swiss champions twice with the Grisons in 2002 and 2005 . After another season at Davos, he decided to move and from then on played for the ZSC Lions . With this club he won the Swiss championship title again in 2008. He essentially contributed to this with 25 scorer points.
In December 2008 Forster announced that he wanted to play again for his ex-club Davos . Therefore, he submitted the termination of the existing contract without notice. The ZSC Lions reacted angrily about this action. The two clubs finally agreed on a transfer on January 6, 2009. HC Davos paid an amount that was significantly more than the regulatory amount of 500,000 Swiss francs , with Forster contributing part of this amount. Further successes followed with Graubünden: in 2009, 2011 and 2015 he and his team celebrated winning the NLA .
In February 2017, EHC Biel announced Forster's commitment from the 2017/18 season .
