Roland Martin (journalist)

Roland S. Martin (born November 14, 1968 in Houston , Texas ) is an American journalist.

Roland Martin was born in 1968 to an African-American family in Houston, Texas. After attending Jack Yates High School, he began studying in 1987 as a scholarship holder at Texas A&M University. In 1991 he received a bachelor's degree there. Martin earned his master’s degree (in “Christian Communications”) in May 2008 at Louisiana Baptist University after he had already been working for many years.

Martin wrote for many years for the magazine Chicago Defender , for which he also took on editorial functions. He was then discovered as a talk host for the radio. In this capacity, he is currently moderating a morning program for WVON in Chicago. Martin has also been working as a commentator for the news channel CNN since March 2007 . For this he moderates his own Saturday broadcast format. He also appears frequently as a member of discussion panels on other CNN programs such as The Situation Room (with Wolf Blitzer ), Larry King Live (with Larry King ) or AC 360 (with Anderson Cooper ), in which he and other characters of the contributes to political life, his opinion and / or analysis of current political and social events. In February 2012, Martin was suspended from duty on CNN because he had been caught by multiple homophobic comments on the internet and in the media.

Roland Martin is married to Jacquie Hood Martin.
