The Finnish state road 23 ( Finnish Valtatie 23 , Swedish Riksväg 23 ) leads from Pori to Joensuu . With a length of 517 km, it is the longest state road in Finland running east-west.

Route

State road 23 begins in the western Finnish town of Pori and leads via Jyväskylä to Joensuu in North Karelia . In Jyväskylä it shares for a short distance with the state roads 4 , 9 and 13 , a highway-like developed route. The rest of the route is two-lane.

The state road 23 performs the following municipalities: Pori - Noormarkku - Pomarkku - Kankaanpää - Jämijärvi - Parkano - Kihniö - Virrat - Keuruu - Petäjävesi - Jyvaskyla - Laukaa - Hankasalmi - Pieksämäki - Varkaus - Leppävirta - Heinävesi - Liperi - Joensuu .
