The Mestaruussarja 1989 was the 59th season of the Finnish football championship since its introduction in 1930. It was played among twelve teams in a combined system of a main round with a round trip and a subsequent championship or relegation round. Finnish champion was Kuusysi Lahti ahead of Turku PS .
