Vasa IFK

Vasa IFK ( Idrottsföreningen Kamraterna Vasa , VIFK for short ) is a sports club from the western Finnish city ​​of Vaasa ( Vasa in Swedish ).

The association was founded in 1900. In football, the club experienced its most successful years in the 1940s and 1950s. In 1944, 1946 and 1953 VIFK was Finnish champion, in 1951 and 1952 runner-up. In 1994 the club rose from the second-rate Ykkönen to the third division ( Kakkonen ) and played in this league until relegation in 2000. After a fourth division season in 2001, the club returned to the Kakkonen and was their champion in 2005 and thus rose again to the Ykkönen, from which they were relegated in 2008. Local rivals Vaasan PS are now considered the city's undisputed number one in football.

In the Bandy , VIFK was Finnish runner-up in 1949 and 1964.

After VIFK merged with the ABK-48 association in 1988, the association entered into under the name BK-IFK until 2000 .
