Location in the province of Perugia

The community extends over around 44 km². It is located about 35 km southeast of Perugia in the climatic classification of Italian communities in Zone E, 2344 GR / G. It belongs to the Comunità montana dei Monti Martano e Serano community and is part of the Associazione Nazionale Città dell'Olio .

The 17 districts (Frazioni) include u. a. Bastardo, Camporeggiano, Fabbri, Castagnola, Macciano, Montecchio, Morcicchia, San Sabino and Seggiano.

The neighboring municipalities are Castel Ritaldi , Gualdo Cattaneo , Massa Martana , Montefalco and Spoleto .

history

The name comes from the Italian word for Janus . The place was under the control of Spoleto since the 13th century and became an independent municipality in 1816.
