The Sauvosaaren urheilupuisto ( German  Sauvosaari Sportpark ) is a football stadium in the Sauvosaari district of the Finnish port city of Kemi , Lapland . The football club PS Kemi Kings , currently playing in the highest league in the country, the Veikkausliiga , playing in this stadium.

history

The facility was opened in 1934 and today consists of two soccer fields. The PS Kemi Kings plays its home games on place A with the dimensions 105 × 60 m. It offers a covered grandstand and 4500 seats, 1880 of which are seats. However , the place does not have a floodlight system. An athletics facility leads around place B (102 × 68 m) . It has floodlights and a small covered grandstand on the home straight and 1200 seats.

The PS Kemi Kings rose to the Veikkausliiga for the first time in 2016 . A new covered grandstand with 1,100 seats was built. The venue has no heated artificial turf . It is a prerequisite for a license in the league and a special permit was required. In December 2017, the city decided that three million euros should be invested in the stadium in order to adapt it to the requirements of the first division. The natural turf is to be exchanged for an artificial turf with turf heating. The work should be completed in April 2019, at the beginning of the season.
