The OmaSP Stadium is a football stadium in the Finnish city of Seinäjoki , southern Ostrobothnia . It is the home ground of the Seinäjoen JK football club . In addition to the club's first team, the second team, SJK Akatemia , also plays in the football arena.
history
The first plans for a new stadium were made in 2011. In June 2015, work began on what was then the Seinäjoki Stadium . On June 18, 2016 it was opened with the league game Seinäjoen JK against the record champions HJK Helsinki (2: 3) in front of 5,817 spectators. Previously, the club played its home games at Seinäjoen keskuskenttä from 1952. The venue designed by the architect Jyrki Jääskeläinen (Arkkitehtitoimisto Jääskeläinen Oy ) offers 6,000 seats for football matches. A maximum of 10,000 seats are available for concerts. Heatable artificial turf was laid on the playing field . Inside the stadium there are u. a. a restaurant, a sports bar and a lounge , which can also be used as conference rooms . The SJK's fan shop is also located in the stadium. The construction was largely financed privately. The city gave more than two million euros . The rest is provided by Seinäjoen JK, who wants to pay off the venue within 10 to 15 years. In February 2016, Sparkasse Oma Säästöpankki ( OmaSP for short) became the name sponsor of the facility. The contract has a term of ten years and the venue is called OmaSP Stadion . The first concert was on the July 16, 2016 American blues rock - band ZZ Top .
In 2017, the American football team of the Seinäjoki Crocodiles from the Vaahteraliiga played their home games in the OmaSP Stadium.
The stadium in Seinäjoki, next to the Hietalahti Stadium in Vaasa, was the venue for the 2018 U-19 European Football Championship . At the tournament it offered 5,672 places.
