Giorgio Contini (born January 4, 1974 in Winterthur ) is a former Swiss football player and today's coach . He has been the coach of FC Lausanne-Sport in the Challenge League since the 2018/19 season .
Career as a player

He played for various clubs in Switzerland, u. a. for FC Winterthur, FC St. Gallen, FC Luzern and FC Lausanne-Sport. His greatest success was the Swiss championship title with FC St. Gallen in the 1999/2000 season . In summer 2005 he ended his football career.
National team
Contini completed his only international match for Switzerland on February 28, 2001 in a friendly against Poland .
Career as a coach
After retiring as a football player, he coached FC Oberwinterthur from the 2nd league interregional for half a year from summer 2005 . From January 2006 to the end of June 2011 he coached FC St. Gallen II, from January 2006 to autumn 2007 he was co-coach of the first team of FC St. Gallen, which he also looked after as interim coach for a game in March 2011 . In July 2011, he moved to FC Luzern as Murat Yakin's assistant coach . Both were released on August 20, 2012.
Contini was head coach of FC Vaduz since November 15, 2012. In summer 2014 he was promoted to the Super League with FC Vaduz. His contract was terminated prematurely on March 7, 2017. On May 4, 2017, Contini signed a contract as head coach at FC St. Gallen until summer 2018. On April 24, 2018, Contini was dismissed from FC St. Gallen. He has been the coach of FC Lausanne-Sport in the Challenge League since the 2018/19 season .
