Ralf Loose (born January 5, 1963 in Dortmund-Dorstfeld ) is a former German soccer player and today's soccer coach .

Career

As a player

In the club

Loose played as a libero at Borussia Dortmund from 1981 to 1986 . He then played for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen in the 2nd Bundesliga for a year before he was active at Fortuna Düsseldorf from 1987 to 1994 . In the 1994/95 season, Loose ended his active career with the then top division club FSV Frankfurt . He scored 18 goals in a total of 342 first and second division games.

In the national team

In addition to winning the U-18 European Championship in 1981 in his own country, Loose was junior world champion in Australia in the same year . At the Junior World Cup he was one of the most successful goal scorers as the playmaker and team captain of the German U-20 team with four tournament hits. From 1982 to 1983 Loose completed a total of six international matches for the German U-21 national team , but remained without a goal. Although he was considered one of the most promising German talents of his year, Loose did not play an international game in the senior division later.

As a trainer

Ralf Loose studied at the German Sport University Cologne , where he completed his trainer training . From 1995 he was assistant coach and coach of the amateur team of Mainz 05. From 1996 to 1998 he was coach of Liechtenstein's U-18 team. On July 1, 1998, he also took over the Liechtenstein senior national team , where, until his dismissal on July 29, 2003, he was able to set accents primarily in promoting talent. Günter Netzer , for example, said: “With Ralf Loose came a young man who did a very good job in his youth and is impeccable in character. He also has experience and sufficient knowledge about football. "

From July 1, 2004 to June 30, 2005, Loose was the coach of the regional league team Sportfreunde Siegen . With victories he made it to the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2004/05 season , although the club had only narrowly escaped relegation in the two previous seasons. At that time Loose was considered one of the most promising German coaching talents.

A few weeks before the promotion, Loose had signed a contract with the Swiss super-league club FC St. Gallen for the following season . After a series of failures with only nine points from ten games (a total of 31 points from 29 games) he was given leave of absence on April 10, 2006 at FC St. Gallen and replaced by Rolf Fringer . Among other things, he was accused of not being able to reach the team and of representing an incomprehensible game philosophy. Press release of FC Augsburg, From July 2006 to September 2007 Loose worked as a trainer in Siegen again before signing a three-year contract with the second division club FC Augsburg on September 29, 2007 . After only eight months, Loose was given a leave of absence on April 16, 2008 due to sporting failure. He used the time of his leave of absence  to sit in on various clubs, including SSC Napoli , FC Metz and Olympique Marseille .

On April 12, 2011 Ralf Loose was introduced as the new coach of the third division club SG Dynamo Dresden , where he succeeded Matthias Maucksch, who had previously been on leave . Under his leadership, the team got 16 points from the remaining six games of the 2010/11 season and thus reached third place in the table, which entitles them to participate in the relegation games to the 2nd Bundesliga. In the relegation Dynamo Dresden prevailed against the table sixteenth of the 2nd Bundesliga VfL Osnabrück and thus rose to the second highest German division. Under his leadership, the team stayed in the middle of the table for the entire 2011/12 season and was able to achieve the goal of staying ahead of schedule. In contrast, Loose in the first half of the 2012/13 season with Dynamo Dresden failed to match the previous year's satisfactory performance. After the comparatively meager 15-point yield from the first 17 games and a 3-0 home defeat against VfL Bochum on matchday 18, which caused the team to slip to 16th place in the table, Loose was immediately removed from the club on December 9, 2012 Effect on leave. The fact that Loose had interned at several French clubs before his time in Dresden was noticeable in the seven-member French connection that Dynamo Dresden signed under his aegis. On September 15, 2013, Ralf Loose received a contract with SC Preußen Münster until the end of the 2014 season , which was then extended to 2016. On December 19, 2015 - after only one win from the last 10 games and a series of six winless games in a row - he was released from the club until his contract expired. For the 2018/2019 season he received a one-year contract with FC Winterthur.
