Denis Markaj (born February 20, 1991 in Gjakova , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Kosovar - Swiss football player . Markaj currently plays for FC Winterthur in the second highest Swiss league and was able to play a game for the Kosovar national team in 2015 .

Career

Markaj began his career in 2006 at FC Baden in the then third-class first division , for which he played 111 games from 2007 to 2011. During the winter break, he switched to FC Chiasso in the Challenge League on loan for half a season . He then played for half a season at AC Bellinzona and switched from there to FC Lugano on loan for half a season during the 2012/13 winter break . After he played again for the relegated AC Bellinzona until the end of September after the loan ended, he then moved back to Lugano. There he played until the 2015/16 winter break and in summer 2015 he was promoted to the Super League together with FC Lugano .

After the one-off six-month excursion in the highest Swiss league, he returned to the second highest Swiss league in the spring as a player in FC Le Mont-sur-Lausanne . After the Lausanne suburban club, there was a season at FC Aarau before he moved to FC Winterthur in summer 2017 , where he played until summer 2019. He has been playing for FC Rapperswil-Jona since the 2019/20 season .
