Raphael Simon Spiegel (born December 19, 1992 in Rüttenen ) is a Swiss football goalkeeper who is currently under contract with FC Winterthur .

Career

Spiegel began his football career at FC Rüttenen, in the village where he grew up. In 2007 he switched to the Grasshoppers ' junior team , where he was regularly used in the junior and reserve teams. However, it was not possible for Spiegel to impose on the first team, which is why he was loaned to FC Wil at the beginning of the 2011 season; however, he was never used. Shortly after he returned to GC, Raphael Spiegel was loaned out again, this time to SC Brühl , where he spent the rest of the season. He made his debut on November 6, 2011 in a 2-1 away defeat at FC Locarno .

On July 23, 2012, he was signed by Premier League promoted West Ham United for an undisclosed transfer fee. Since then, Spiegel has played for the U-21 team and is also a replacement for Jussi Jääskeläinen in the first team.

Spiegel has been playing for FC Winterthur since the 2018/19 season . He managed a goal in the game against FC Chiasso .

National team

Spiegel played for the Swiss junior national teams. In 2009 he was part of the U-17 national team , which won the U-17 World Cup in Nigeria in 2009 . However, he was not used because Benjamin Siegrist showed a sovereign performance in all games and was awarded the Golden Glove .
