Matthias Maucksch (born June 11, 1969 in Dresden ) is a former German soccer player and today's soccer coach.

Career as a player

society

Matthias Maucksch started playing football at Dynamo Dresden at the age of seven. His greatest success in the youth field was winning the GDR student championship in 1984. After making his debut in the GDR league in 1987, Maucksch won the GDR championship with Dynamo in 1989 and 1990 . After the German reunification , he played for Dresden in the 1st Bundesliga . His 118 Bundesliga appearances for Dynamo are so far a club record.

After the license for the Bundesliga was withdrawn from Dresden in 1995, he moved to VfL Wolfsburg in the 2nd Bundesliga . Despite the rise, Maucksch left VfL in 1997 and went to VfB Leipzig . A year later he made his Bundesliga comeback for 1. FC Nürnberg , but could no longer assert himself as a regular player. This was followed by Energie Cottbus and FV Dresden 06 . At the end of his active career he played for VfL Pirna-Copitz in the Landesliga Sachsen .

National team

Maucksch made his only appearance for the GDR national team on January 24, 1990 in the 3-0 defeat against France . He previously held in the National Selection of DFV international experience, made it into the knockout stages of the 1990 U-21 European Championships but missed.

Coaching career

After Maucksch had acquired the coaching license , he first trained the Saxon district division club Döbelner SC . In October 2007 he returned to Dynamo Dresden, where he initially coached the reserve team . He had his first successes as a coach in the 2008/09 season when he won the Saxon Championship and the Saxony Cup . After Ruud Kaiser was fired, Maucksch was promoted to coach of the first team in October 2009, which he looked after until his leave of absence on April 12, 2011. His dismissal took place after a series of defeats of three games in the fight for promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. For the 2015/16 season he became a coach at the fifth-rate league club FSV Union Fürstenwalde , whom he led to promotion to the fourth-rate regional league Northeast. However, for family reasons, he did not extend his one-year contract. In January 2017, Maucksch again took over the coaching position at FSV Union Fürstenwalde.

After he had managed to stay in the league twice in Fürstenwalde, Maucksch switched to the third division Sportfreunde Lotte during the summer break of 2018 . His contract was terminated on August 24, 2018 after winning a point from four league games. In January 2019, he succeeded René Rydlewicz as coach at the GDR record champions BFC Dynamo . At the request of Maucksch, the contract was terminated after the end of the season. On June 4, 2019, it was announced that he will again be the coach of FSV Union Fürstenwalde for the 2019/20 season.

Private

After his release from Dynamo Dresden, the father of three children worked as a sports teacher at a secondary school in Dresden- Laubegast and attended many football matches.
