Youth championships of the GDR (soccer)
One of the main reasons for the international success of the youth football teams of the German Football Association of the German Democratic Republic was the youth work in the children's and youth sports schools (KJS) and the sports communities.
The first state junior championship was played back in 1949, much earlier than in the area of the German Football Association of the Federal Republic of Germany , which has only held a German youth championship since 1969 . The junior division according to age group can be compared with today's A-youth , the youth corresponds to the B-youth and the students to the C-youth . The youngest were the boys ( D-youth ) and the children ( E- and F-youth ).
The GDR junior champions
While smaller sports clubs also managed to achieve good placements in the first few years, with the introduction of the junior league for the 1968/69 season at the latest, the football clubs that were founded at the turn of the year 1965/66 and supported by the state , including the structurally equivalent SG Dynamo Dresden , played the master among himself. The record champions in this age group are Dynamo Dresden with six titles.
