The Adlershofer BC 08 (officially Adlershofer Ballspiel-Club 1908 eV ) is a football club in the Berlin district of Adlershof , Treptow-Köpenick . He also has a bowling department.

history

Adlershofer BC was founded on November 9th, 1908 under the chairmanship of Erich Nitsche. From 1921 to 1926, the ABC 08 became the Berlin A-Juniors Champion in a row. In 1928 the first men's team made it to the league, which was then the highest division in Berlin. In 1931/32 Hanne Sobek trained in the league , 1930 and 1931 German champions with Hertha BSC , the first men's team. Up to 5,000 spectators attended the games on the Lohnauer Steig. During the Nazi era , after the workers' sports clubs were dissolved in 1933, they were forced to merge with Columbia 04 and ATV under the new name “ABC Columbia 04”, which was renamed “ABC 04” a short time later. The club was weakened during this time and was relegated to the district class.

In 1945 after the Second World War, due to the reorganization of sport on a purely municipal basis by the Allied Control Council, they had to come together under the name Sportgruppe (SG) Adlershof and were classified in the Berlin City League , where they played at the top from the start. In 1948 it was possible to return to the old club name "Adlershof Ballspiel" Club.

In 1951/52, under the coaching staff of Rudi Donner and Konrad Schulze, the first men's team was promoted to the GDR league , the second highest division in the GDR. In 1952 the B-Juniors team, which had recently become East Berlin champions, won the GDR championship. 1,000 supporters received the successful youth team in a corso at Adlershof train station. In 1953 ABC 08 rose from the GDR league, as it turned out to be an economic problem to exist as an independent club without a sponsoring company alongside the company sports associations (BSG). In 1954 the A-Juniors were East Berlin champions.

In 1955, the ABC 08 was renamed "SG Adlershof" under pressure from the GDR sports leadership. In 1956, the SG threatened to be expelled from the sports association after efforts to establish women's football , which the then GDR sports officials disliked. In the following years things went downhill for the Adlershofer and their men's team. It was true that in 1962 there was another upbeat when you became the Berlin champion and once again made it into the second GDR league , but then you were relegated to the fourth-class GDR district class.

At the turn of 1989, the association Adlershofer BC was re-established. In 1991 he made it to the Berlin regional league in reunited football. In 1997, with the relay victory, they reached the highest division in Berlin, the Verbandsliga Berlin . The class could be held until relegation to the regional league in 2002.

In 2004 the 1st women's team of ABC Berlin became champions and rose to the regional soccer league . Here the team was able to hold out for four years, but had to relegate in 2008 as bottom of the table.

In June 2007, the first men's team managed to return to the Berlin Association League as a relay winner, where they were able to secure relegation early on as a climber. In November 2008, the club celebrated its 100th anniversary with a ceremony and various tournaments.

In the 2009/10 season, ABC achieved its best position so far in fourth place in what is now the “Berlin League”, the association league. After that, things gradually went downhill. If they just managed to stay up in 2011/12, they were relegated from the Berlin League to the State League in June 2013. With only 13 points from 34 games in the end, this was already determined months in advance.

Venue

The ABC has been based on the Lohnauer Steig sports field in Berlin-Adlershof since 1927. It has 1000 standing places and is equipped with artificial turf and floodlights .
