Football section

Döbelner SC was founded in 1902 under the name Döbelner FC , but was renamed a sports club in 1903 . The club operated in the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs . The best result was reaching the round of 16 in the 1911/12 season, in which the DSC lost 4-8 to the CBC in 1899 .

In 1933 the name was changed again to Sportvereinigung Döbeln . The sports association initially failed in 1940 due to Konkordia Plauen and Wacker Leipzig on the rise to the Gauliga Sachsen . In the following season, the rise together with Guts Muts Dresden was still successful . The Gauliga held Döbeln until it was dissolved in 1945, with the club mostly in a relegation battle. The Saxons competed nationwide in the Tschammer Cup in 1942 , in which they were defeated by SV Dessau 05 in the second round after their opening win over NSTG Prague .

In 1945 the sports association was dissolved and replaced by a loosely organized sports community (SG). Their soccer team participated in the Döbelner district championship from 1947. When sports traffic in the Soviet occupation zone was reorganized in the form of company sports associations (BSG) from 1948 , SG Döbeln was converted into BSG Motor. The rose in 1950 to the 4th league district class North West Saxony, where they finished second and seventh in the following two seasons. When the states in the GDR were abolished in 1952 , the BSG Motor was incorporated into the Leipzig district class, which was also the 4th division. There, the Döbelner mostly held their ground in the upper half of the table until 1959.

1956 Motor Döbeln took part in the GDR-wide soccer cup competition FDGB-Pokal . With two intermediate round wins (4: 2 against BSG Motor Zschopau , 4: 2 at BSG Motor Lauchhammer) Döbeln reached the first main round. There the team lost 0-2 at home to BSG Chemie Zeitz .

In 1959, fourth place was enough for promotion to the district league , which had been the 4th division since 1956 after the introduction of the 2nd GDR league . Motor Döbeln only played in the district league in 1960 (calendar year season). Only in 1967 succeeded in returning to the district league, which had become the third division after the 2nd GDR league was closed. BSG Motor stayed there until the 1979/80 season. After two more seasons in the district league (1983/84, 1984/85) Döbeln remained in the Leipzig district class until the end of the GDR football league system in 1991.

When the system of company sports associations collapsed after the political change in 1990 and the subsequent economic changes and the formation of new clubs became possible, members of BSG Motor founded the registered association Döbelner Sportclub 02/90 on July 2, 1990 . The SC won the Leipzig district league in 1991 and rose to the state league of Saxony . The DSC held the highest Saxon league until 2001 with secured midfield positions. After being promoted again in 2012, the Sachsenliga was held twice, before relegation followed in 2015.
