Pailón is a small town in the Santa Cruz department in the lowlands of the South American Andean state Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Pailón is the central place of the Municipio Pailón in the province of Chiquitos and lies at an altitude of 291 m . The Río Grande flows west of Pailón , across the Río Grande is the metropolis of Santa Cruz de la Sierra .
geography
Pailón is located in the Bolivian lowlands between the alluvial plains of the Río Piraí and Río Grande in the west and the Chiquitos hill country in the east. The climate is semi-humid, the temperatures fluctuate only insignificantly during the day and during the year.
The annual average temperature is 24 to 25 ° C, with monthly average temperatures between almost 27 ° C in December and January and below 21 ° C in June and July (see climate diagram Pailón). From Santa Cruz, the paved national road Ruta 4 / Ruta 9 heads east via Cotoca to Puerto Pailas , crosses the Río Grande on the new bridge Puente Pailas and splits 14 kilometers later in Pailón. From here the Ruta 4 leads 587 kilometers to Puerto Suárez on the Brazilian border, the Ruta 9 leads 1175 kilometers north to Guayaramerín .
