Chiquitos is a province in the central part of the Santa Cruz department in the lowlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia . Together with the Province of José Miguel de Velasco , the Province of Ñuflo de Chávez , the Province of Ángel Sandoval , the Province of Germán Busch and the Province of Guarayos, it forms the so-called Gran Chiquitanía . The capital of the province is San José de Chiquitos .
location
The province is one of fifteen provinces in the Santa Cruz Department. It borders in the northwest with the province of Ñuflo de Chávez , in the west with the province Andrés Ibáñez , in the south with the province Cordillera , in the southeast with the province Germán Busch , in the east with the province Ángel Sandoval , and in the north with the province José Miguel de Velasco .
It extends between 17 ° 00 'and 18 ° 37' south latitude and 58 ° 54 'and 62 ° 45' west longitude, its east-west extent is about 500 kilometers, its north-south extent up to 220 kilometers.
