Germán Busch is a province in the southeastern part of the Santa Cruz Department in the lowlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia . The province was named after Germán Busch Becerra .
location
The province is bordered by the Ángel Sandoval Province to the north, the Chiquitos Province to the northwest, the Cordillera Province to the southwest , the Republic of Paraguay to the south , and the Republic of Brazil to the east .
population
The population of the province of Germán Busch has risen sharply in the past two decades:
- 1992 : 25,426 inhabitants ( census )
- 2001 : 33,006 inhabitants (census)
- 2012 : 42,830 inhabitants (census)
42.5 percent of the population are younger than 15 years. 80.7 percent of the population speak Spanish , 6.4 percent Quechua and 2.2 percent Aymara (1992).
15.8 percent of those in employment work in agriculture , 1.2 percent in mining , 8.0 percent in industry , and 75.0 percent in the service sector (2001).
86.3 percent of the population are Catholic , 11.0 percent are Protestant (1992).
29.3 percent of the population have no access to electricity , 31.9 percent live without sanitary facilities (1992).
economy
The province's economy is based primarily on agriculture, with the extraction of mineral resources such as iron ore and magnesium playing an increasing role. The iron ore deposit in the El Mutún mountain is now regarded as one of the most important deposits in the world, which the Indian company Jindal Steel is to develop.
