José Miguel de Velasco is a province in the northeastern part of the Santa Cruz Department in the lowlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

The province has existed since October 12, 1880 and is named in honor of General José Miguel de Velasco , four-time President of Bolivia.

location

The province is one of fifteen provinces in the Santa Cruz Department. It borders in the west with the province of Ñuflo de Chávez , in the south with the province Chiquitos , in the southeast with the province Ángel Sandoval , in the east with the Republic of Brazil , and in the northeast with the department Beni .

It extends between 13 ° 30 'and 17 ° 10' south latitude and 59 ° 25 'and 62 ° 05' west longitude, its length from north to south is 500 kilometers, its latitude up to 300 kilometers.

It has a size of 66,794 square kilometers.
