The Municipio San Miguel is a district in the Santa Cruz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality of San Miguel is one of three Municipalities of José Miguel de Velasco Province , bordered to the west by the Ñuflo de Chávez Province , on the south by the Chiquitos Province , in the southeast on the municipality of San Rafael , and to the northeast and east by the municipality of San Ignacio de Velasco .

The municipality stretches between about 16 ° 12 'and 17 ° 19' south latitude and 60 ° 44 'and 61 ° 50' west longitude, its extent from west to east and from north to south is up to 120 kilometers.

The municipality comprises sixty municipalities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is the small town of San Miguel with 3,464 inhabitants in the central eastern part of the district. ( 2012 census )

The municipality of San Miguel is located in the Bolivian lowlands in the Chiquitanía region , a partially untouched landscape between Santa Cruz and the Brazilian border.

The region's climate is a semi-humid climate of the warm tropics . The monthly average temperatures fluctuate only slightly over the course of the year between 20.8 ° C in June and 26.8 ° C in October, with an almost constant 26 ° C between September and March. 59.5 percent of 1,873 households own a radio, 22.3 percent a television, 53.6 percent a bicycle, 5.2 percent a motorcycle, 4.8 percent a car, 8.3 percent a refrigerator, and 2.7 percent Percent a phone. (2001)
