Bruddesta

Bruddesta is a former fishing station ( Swedish fiskeläge ) on Öland . The former fishing port from the beginning of the 19th century is located north of Äleklinta about two miles northeast of Borgholm .

The nine thatched huts and boathouses made from Öland kalkstein have been protected as historical buildings since 1985. Today most of the huts in Bruddesta have had their day. Old net gardens and slipways bear witness to the days of fishing and are a reminder of its importance for Öland. An old Pålpråm boat is also located here. In addition to the traces of fishing, the coast also has a long tradition in lime distillery . To the north of the village and south of the boathouses there are lime kilns, including the one built and renovated in the village around 1910.
