The Oruro department is located in western Bolivia and extends over 53,588 km² in the Andean highlands of the Altiplano , the capital is Oruro . It is bordered by the La Paz Department in the north, the Cochabamba Department in the northeast, the Potosí Department in the east and south, and Chile in the west .
economy
Oruro is the traditional center of mining in Bolivia (tin, lead and silver), which is still an important economic factor despite many mine closings in recent decades.
