Ladislao Cabrera is a province in the southern part of the Oruro department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia . The province bears its name in honor of the freedom fighter Ladislao Cabrera (1830–1921).

location

The province of Ladislao Cabrera is one of sixteen provinces in the Oruro department. It lies between 19 ° 02 'and 19 ° 56' south latitude and between 66 ° 35 'and 67 ° 43' west longitude .

It borders in the north on the province of Sud Carangas , in the west on the province of Sabaya , in the south on the Department of Potosí , in the east on the province of Eduardo Avaroa and in the northeast on the province of Sebastián Pagador .

The province extends for 100 kilometers from north to south and 125 kilometers from east to west.

population

The population of the province of Ladislao Cabrera has almost doubled over the past two decades:

The province's most important idiom is Aymara , spoken by 90.5 percent of the population, ahead of Spanish (86.4 percent) and Quechua (19.7 percent). 42.5 percent of the population are younger than 15 years old. ( 2001 )

99.9 percent of the population have no access to electricity, 90.0 percent live without sanitary facilities ( 1992 ).

82.4 percent of those in employment work in agriculture, 0.1 percent in mining, 1.8 percent in industry, and 15.7 percent in the service sector ( 2001 ).

85.4 percent of the population are Catholic, 10.2 percent are Protestant ( 1992 ).
