Bengal Vinto (also Vingal Vinto ) is a town in the Oruro department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Bengal Vinto is the central place of the canton Bengal Vinto in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Pampa Aullagas in the province of Ladislao Cabrera . The village is located at an altitude of 3701 m six kilometers west of the Río Márquez , which flows twelve kilometers downstream into the Poopó Lake .

Bengal Vinto is located south of Lake Poopó on the eastern edge of the Bolivian Altiplano in front of the Cordillera Azanaques , which is part of the Cordillera Central mountain range . The climate is typical of the time of day , in which the daily temperature fluctuations are greater than the mean fluctuations between the seasons.
The annual average temperature of the region is just under 9 ° C (see climate diagram Pampa Aullagas) and fluctuates between 4 ° C in June and July and 11 ° C in the summer months from November to March. The annual precipitation is less than 300 mm, with a pronounced dry season from April to November with monthly precipitation under 15 mm, and a maximum of 75 mm in January.

Bengal Vinto is 180 kilometers by road south of Oruro , the capital of the department.
The Ruta 1 road leads south from Oruro and reaches the town of Poopó after 53 kilometers and the town of Challapata after another 63 kilometers . From here, the Ruta leads 30 kilometers south via Santiago de Huari . After crossing a river, a dirt road turns southwest and after 19 kilometers leads to Santuario de Quillacas . The road then continues in a south-westerly direction via Bengal Vinto to Salinas de Garcí Mendoza and the Salar de Uyuni salt lake .

Due to the historically grown population distribution, the region has a high proportion of Aymara population, in the municipality of Pampa Aullagas 81.2 percent of the population speak the Aymara language .
