Eduardo Avaroa (also: Abaroa ) is a province in the southeastern part of the Oruro department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

location

The province of Eduardo Avaroa is one of sixteen provinces in the Oruro department. It lies between 18 ° 39 'and 19 ° 30' south latitude and between 65 ° 42 'and 66 ° 42' west longitude .

It borders in the northwest with the province of Poopó , in the west with the province Sud Carangas and the province Ladislao Cabrera , and in the south and east with the department Potosí . The province of Sebastián Pagador is embedded in the province of Eduardo Avaroa between the two municipalities .

The province extends over 100 kilometers in an east-west direction and over 90 kilometers in a north-south direction.

The population of the province of Avaroa has increased by almost half in the past two decades:

44.1 percent of the population are younger than 15 years. 78.3 percent of the population speak Spanish , 71.9 percent Quechua and 23.0 percent Aymara . ( 2001 )

82 percent of the population have no access to electricity, 94 percent live without sanitary facilities ( 1992 ).

68.9 percent of those in employment work in agriculture, 0.5 percent in mining, 6.9 percent in industry, and 23.7 percent in the service sector ( 2001 ).

86.6 percent of the population are Catholic, 11.9 percent are Protestant ( 1992 ).
