Sevaruyo is a town in the Oruro department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Sevaruyo is the central place of the canton Sevaruyo in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Quillacas in the province Eduardo Avaroa . The village is located at an altitude of 3741 m in an alluvial plain on the right bank of the Río Sevaruyo , which flows about 25 kilometers northwest of the village into the southern part of Lake Poopó .

Sevaruyo is located on the Bolivian Altiplano between the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east. The region's climate is arid and characterized by a typical time of day climate.
The mean average temperature of the region is just under 9 ° C (see climate diagram Pampa Aullagas) and fluctuates only insignificantly between 5 ° C in June and July and 11 ° C from November to March. The annual precipitation is around 300 mm, with a pronounced dry season from April to October with monthly precipitation below 10 mm, and only a few months with sufficient moisture, the wettest month is January with just over 70 mm monthly precipitation.
Transport network
Sevaruyo is located at a distance of 181 kilometers by road south of Oruro , the capital of the department.
The Ruta 1 road leads south from Oruro and reaches the town of Poopó after 53 kilometers and the town of Challapata after another 63 kilometers . From here, the Ruta leads 30 kilometers south via Santiago de Huari . After crossing a river, a dirt road turns southwest and after 19 kilometers leads to the village of Santuario de Quillacas and on to Salinas de Garcí Mendoza and the salt lake Salar de Uyuni . In Quillacas, a dirt road branches off in a south-easterly direction and after another 16 kilometers reaches Sevaruyo .
Sevaruyo is also a stopping point on the Oruro-Uyuni railway line.

Due to the historically grown population distribution, the region has a significant proportion of Aymara population, in the Municipio Santuario de Quillacas 52.4 percent of the population speak the Aymara language .
