Kakachaca (also: Qaqachaca ) is a town in the Oruro department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Kakachaca is the central place of the Vicecantón Kakachaca in the municipality of Challapata in the province of Eduardo Avaroa . The village is located at an altitude of 3817 m in an area far from traffic in the southern part of the Cordillera Azanaques .

Kakachaca is located on the eastern edge of the Bolivian Altiplano in the Cordillera Central mountain range . The climate of the region is a typical time of day climate , in which the daily temperature fluctuations are more pronounced than the mean seasonal fluctuations.
The average annual temperature in the region is 8–9 ° C (see Challapata climate diagram) and fluctuates between 4 ° C in June and July and 11 ° C in December. The annual precipitation is almost 350 mm, with a pronounced dry season from April to October with monthly precipitation below 15 mm, and significant precipitation only from December to March with 60 to 80 mm monthly precipitation.
Transport network
Kakachaca is located at a distance of 175 kilometers by road southeast of Oruro , the capital of the department of the same name.
From Oruro, the paved national road Ruta 1 leads 116 kilometers south to Challapata , where the Ruta 30 branches off to Uyuni to the south . From Challapata, Ruta 1 leads twelve kilometers northeast to Ancacato and from there via Cruce Culta to Potosí and from there to Tarija near the Argentine border.
Twenty-two kilometers south-east of Ancacato, a dirt road branches off in a north-easterly direction, which after another 25 km reaches Kakachaca . This road is planned as Ruta 31 and should continue to Pocoata on Ruta 6 , but so far there is no draft law that should approve the expansion of the road connection.

Due to the historical population development, the region has a high proportion of Quechua population, in the municipality of Challapata 59.2 percent of the population speak Quechua .
