The Unidad Nacional ( also : Frente de Unidad Nacional) is a social democratic party in the South American Andean state of Bolivia . The party was founded on December 12, 2003 and sees itself as a "third, moderate force".

In the presidential elections on December 8, 2005, the UN and its presidential candidate Samuel Jorge Doria Medina Auza received 7.8 percent of the valid votes; it won 8 of 130 seats in the House of Representatives ( Cámara de Diputados ) and one of 27 seats in the Senate in the Bolivian National Congress ( Cámara de Senadores or Senado ).

In the nationwide elections in 2009 after the referendum on January 25th, Samuel Doria Medina applied again and received 5.65 percent of the vote. The Unidad Nacional has since had three seats in the House of Representatives and no seat in the Senate.

For the regional elections of 2010, the UN entered into an alliance with the Consenso Popular (CP) party in the Departamento Cochabamba and the Departamento Chuquisaca and together there became the strongest opposition group, in the Departamento La Paz and Departamento Oruro it became the third strongest party. At the district level ( Bolivian : Municipios ) it only narrowly failed to provide the mayor of the Municipio Cochabamba , but became the strongest political force there with 39.5 percent of the vote. In addition to Cochabamba, the UN is also represented on the municipal councils of the cities of La Paz , El Alto and Oruro .
