The Diocese of Allahabad ( lat. : Dioecesis Allahabadensis ) is in India situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Prayagraj .

history

The diocese of Allahabad was on September 1, 1886 by Pope Leo XIII. Erected from cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate of Patna and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Agra as a suffragan . The diocese of Allahabad gave up several times in its history parts of its territory to establish new dioceses.

The diocese of Allahabad includes the districts of Prayagraj , Ambedkar Nagar , Faizabad , Fatehpur , Kanpur Nagar , Kanpur Dehat , Kaushambi , Mirzapur , Pratapgarh , Raebareli , Sonbhadra and Sultanpur in the state of Uttar Pradesh .
