Andi Zeqiri (born June 22, 1999 in Lausanne ) is a Swiss football player of Kosovar descent who is under contract with the second division club FC Lausanne-Sport . The striker has been a Swiss U21 international since March 2018 .

Career

Andi Zeqiri, who was born in Lausanne , began his football training at FC Stade Lausanne-Ouchy and joined the youth team at FC Lausanne-Sport in 2011 . In May 2015 he was promoted to the first team. He made his debut in the second highest Swiss league on May 22, 2015 (34th matchday) in the 1: 2 away defeat against FC Le Mont-sur-Lausanne , when he came on for Anđelko Savić in the 71st minute . The 16-year-old Zeqiri was also used in the two remaining league games of the 2014/15 season . In the following season 2015/16 he established himself as a rotation player in the team of head coach Fabio Celestini . On April 21, 2016 (29th matchday), he scored his first league goal for Lausanne-Sport in a 1-0 home win against FC Wohlen . In total, he scored twice in 14 league games and rose with the club as a champion in the top Swiss league .

On August 30, 2016 Andi Zeqiri switched to the Italian first division team Juventus Turin on loan for the entire 2016/17 season , who secured a purchase option for him. At the Vecchia Signora he was assigned to the U19 team and played there the entire season. Juventus did not pull the purchase option at the end of the season and Zeqiri returned to FC Lausanne-Sport.

In the Super League he was hardly considered at the beginning of the 2017/18 season and played increasingly in the U21s. In the 1: 4 home defeat against FC Basel on December 2, 2017 (17th matchday), he scored his first goal in the first division. He was then regularly used as a substitute and ended the season with 19 league appearances, in which he scored two goals. As bottom of the table, he rose with the Bleu et blanc in the Challenge League.

In the following season 2018/19 the striker started more and more often. On May 26, 2019 (36th matchday), he scored a flawless hat trick in the 6-2 home win against FC Vaduz before the half-time break . This season he met seven times in 24 league appearances. His final breakthrough came in the next 2019/20 season in the position of left winger . After just five match days, he had six goals this season and two assists. He could not maintain this goal quota and he achieved 12 goals and three assists, which he was able to collect in 22 league games, by the end of the season.

National team

Andi Zeqiri is of Kosovar origin and can therefore play for both the Swiss and the Kosovar national team .

In September 2013 and April 2014 Zeqiri played three times for the Swiss U15 national team and was able to score a goal in these games. From September 2014 to April 2015, he played seven international matches for the U16s , in which he netted three times. At the same time, he has also played for the U17s since October 2014 , for which he completed a total of 14 missions until March 2016 and scored four times. Between August 2016 and May 2017, he played seven times for the U18 and scored three goals. He played for the U19 for the first time in November 2015 and made 13 international matches in two years, in which he scored five goals. In September 2018, he played two international matches for the U20 , in which he scored one goal.

Andi Zeqiri has been a Swiss U21 international since March 2018 .
