Luca Zuffi (born March 27, 1990 in Winterthur ) is a Swiss football player who has been under contract in the Swiss Super League at FC Basel since July 1, 2014 . He is a son of the former professional footballer Dario Zuffi .
Club career
Winterthur
Luca played the first years of his youth at FC Oberwil / BL when his father Dario Zuffi was still playing for FC Basel . When his father returned to Winterthur, Luca first played with the youth team of FC Winterthur and then began his professional career there in 2006 with the Challenge League club. He was under contract with FC Winterthur until 2013 and was used in 87 league games, scoring 9 goals.
Tuna
For the 2012/13 season, Zuffi was loaned to the Super League club FC Thun , which was firmly committed to the 2013/14 season. There he quickly matured to become a regular player and was used in 28 of 36 league games, scoring three goals.
Basel
In July 2014 he moved to league rivals FC Basel , where he signed a three-year contract and made his debut on matchday one in a 2-1 away win against FC Aarau . On the fourth matchday, August 9, 2014, he scored his first goal for FC Basel against FC Zurich . In a 4-1 home win, he made it 2-0.
The 2014/15 season was very successful for Zuffi and FC Basel. The team finished the soccer championship 2014/15 for the 18th time as champions (for the 6th time in a row) with 12 points ahead of the 2nd placed BSC Young Boys and 25 points ahead of 3rd placed FC Zurich . Basel was also in the final of the Swiss Cup , which was lost to FC Sion 0-3. In the 2014/15 Champions League season , Basel advanced to the round of 16. During the 2014/15 season, FC Basel played a total of 65 games (36 championship, 6 cups, 8 Champions League and 15 test games). Under coach Paulo Sousa , Zuffi had a total of 52 appearances, of which 29 in the Super League, 3 in the Cup, 7 in the Champions League and 13 in friendly matches. He scored 5 championship goals and 2 in the friendly matches.
Under coach Urs Fischer , Zuffi won the championship title with FCB at the end of the 2015/16 championship and the 2016/17 championship . For the club it was the 8th title in a row and the 20th title in the club's history. In addition, FCB won the cup competition on May 25, 2017 with three to zero against Sion and thus the double .

Zuffi made his debut on October 9, 2015 in a 7-0 EM qualifying home game for the 2016 European Football Championship against San Marino for the Swiss national football team , where he played straight through.
