Jasper van der Werff (born December 9, 1998 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss - Dutch football player .

Career

Van der Werff began his career at FC St. Gallen . After initially playing in the club's youth, he moved up to the U-21 squad for the 2016/17 season. He made his debut for this in the 1st division in October 2016 when he came on for Petar Pavlovic in the 88th minute against the second team of FC Winterthur .

After more than 20 games in the first division, van der Werff was in the professional squad for the first time in February 2018 against BSC Young Boys . In the same month he made his debut in the Super League when he started against FC Basel on matchday 22 of the 2017/18 season.

For the 2018/19 season he moved to the Austrian Bundesliga club FC Red Bull Salzburg , with whom he received a contract that ran until June 2022. Initially, however, he played for the farm team FC Liefering in the 2nd league , for which he first played in August 2018 against SK Vorwärts Steyr .

In the first team, he made his Bundesliga debut against TSV Hartberg on August 18, 2018. In the game against SK Sturm on October 7, 2018, he was seriously injured and was out for several months.

In January 2020 he returned to Switzerland and was awarded to FC Basel for a year and a half .
