Settlement of the Carmelites in Calbe

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The chronicler Jakob Milendunck mentions a settlement of the Carmelites in "Calbe" in his Historiae provinciae Carmelitorum (1650/57). The location, the time of existence and the character of this settlement of the Carmelite Order in what is now Saxony-Anhalt are unclear, as further indications of the existence of the settlement are not known.

history

The mention of the branch near Milendunck leaves it open whether he was referring to Calbe (Saale) , Kalbe (Milde) or another place. Only tribus milliaribus distat a Magdeburgo (24 km from Magdeburg) is reported. In science it is controversial whether it was an independent monastery - Milendunck reported from a convent - or possibly just a date of the Carmelite monastery in Magdeburg .
