Konstantinos Dimitriou ( Greek Κωνσταντίνος Δημητρίου , born June 30, 1999 in Thessaloniki ) is a Greek football player who has been under contract with FC Basel in the Swiss Super League since the 2018/19 season .

PAOK Thessaloniki

The defender played for his hometown club Giannitsa FC in his youth and then joined the PAOK Thessaloniki youth team in the summer of 2013 . He was accepted into the first team for the 2017/18 season , but was not used. Only on the 15th matchday against AO Platanias he was included as a substitute in the squad, but was not used.

FC Basel

For the 2018/19 season, Dimitriou moved to the Swiss Super League at FC Basel , where he signed a four-year contract until June 2022. In his first season he came to 18 missions for the U-21 team of FC Basel, but no use for the first team. On August 3, 2019, on the 3rd matchday of the 2019/20 season , he made his debut for the professional squad in a 3-2 away win against FC Thun .

FC Wil 1900

Dimitriou spent the second half of the 2019/20 season on loan from second division club FC Wil 1900 , where he only played one game. On February 8, 2020 , he was substituted in the 71st minute of the 2-0 away defeat against SC Kriens .

National team

The defender has been a regular member of the various Greek youth national teams since 2014 . So far he has played a total of 32 games, but he has not yet scored a goal. He is currently in the U-21 squad .
